Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting officers from the Lagos State Fire Service, who guided our pupils and staff through a practical fire drill exercise. What could have felt serious and tense quickly became engaging, interactive, and yes… even a little exciting.
From the sound of the alarm to the orderly evacuation, our pupils rose to the occasion impressively. They listened, followed instructions, and moved calmly to designated assembly points like true safety champions. It was one of those moments where you pause and think, “Okay, they’ve really been paying attention.”
The highlight? Watching our pupils interact with the fire officers. Questions flew in every direction. How do you stop a fire? What should we do first? Can we really use water for every fire? The officers answered patiently, turning every question into a mini lesson.
Beyond the fun and curiosity, the message was clear. Safety is not just something we talk about, it’s something we practice.
At Doyens School, we believe preparing our children goes beyond academics. It’s also about equipping them with real-life awareness and confidence… even in situations they may never have to face.
And if there’s one thing we’re sure of after this exercise, it’s this: our pupils are not just learners, they’re prepared, alert, and ready.
Now, who says safety training can’t be fun?
